Individual DIY Afternoon Tea Stands
I love afternoon tea and I wanted to have Individual DIY Afternoon Tea Stands for a get together with friends. We only had an hour and I wanted that time to feel like an occasion. My one friend had her mum with her who was visiting from Atlanta, so even more of a reason to turn a quick catchup into a wonderful memory.
There is something about having your own small individual something, be it a cake or a stand, that makes you feel special. To be honest I’ve never been to an afternoon tea where you have had your own stand, three tiered stands are the norm. But due to the time pressure, I thought if everyone had their selection plated and in front of them, all we would have to do it pass around the jam and cream, giving us more chatting time.
I love designed looks and the upturned tea cup would look lovely in a country style kitchen setting, but not my dining room. I wanted height, a talking point and to add a little elegance to the table. Cue my Martini glasses. Tucked away at the back of a cupboard they worked perfectly. Tall, but not too tall that you couldn’t see the person in front of you. The elegant Martini glasses held the dinner plates perfectly and my Individual DIY Afternoon Tea Stands were born.
If you do not have Martini glasses, experiment with whatever glasses you have indoors. Tumblers and highballs worked very well.
For a Cream Tea, I would place a side plate onto your chosen glass and for an Afternoon Tea I would use a dinner plate.
I hope you love this idea and wow your mum on Mothers Day, your friends or family with a lovely Cream or Afternoon tea soon. If you do use this idea please send me your photos, I would love to see what you have done.
