Coffee Morning Recipes
Our souls are soothed with good conversation. Some charities have harnessed the power of people gathering for just that, conversation over a coffee and a slice of cake. The added bonus is you get to catch up with friends and colleagues and the charities receive much needed funding for their causes.
In the UK we have the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning which takes place on or around the 30th September 2016. In Australia it is called Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea with the next event being held on 25th May 2017. They are hoping to raise $13.8 million for the Cancer Council. In South Africa it is called a ‘Cuppa for CANSA’, their event started on 8th June and ends on 31st October 2016. Their aim is to keep their 9 mobile screening units on the road.
Each host takes the event to whatever level they want. Some will have elaborate events as they do in South Africa and Australia and some will focus on a date where you can all just get together for a lovely catch up session in homes or around coffee machines at work. The websites of all the charities have wonderful ideas and themes for your coffee morning. Macmillan, Biggest Morning Tea and Cuppa.
Macmillan call the Coffee Mornings where you provide homemade baked goods, a ‘make it’ Coffee Morning. Where you buy in treats they call it a ‘fake it’ Coffee Morning. Marks & Spencer’s are the official Macmillan ‘fake it’ partner, their stores have merchandise and treats for you to purchase.

Marissa’s Hot Chocolate Station Idea – If you are going to have an event with younger children present, have a hot chocolate station. Set out a bowl of mini marshmallows, whipped cream and a chocolate shaker for them to design their own drink.
